Kween: Man Defiles Girl, Burns Her Body And Commits Suicide

 Kween district police are investigating circumstances surrounding a very queer incident. It involves a man who raped a girl, burned her body, and later committed suicide. This happened at Kortowamalil, Cherangut parish, Kwosir sub-county in Kween district.

The police revealed that a one Abraham Sande, on August 29, grabbed 8-year-old Leticia Chemutai. He then locked her up in his grass-thatched house and raped her.

“After the heinous act, he slit her throat using a knife killing her instantly. He abandoned the body inside and set the house on fire,” authorities revealed.

Apparently, as he watched the house burn, he then took poison to try and take away his own life. Luckily, his neighbors responded quickly and took him to Kapeoron health centre IV for treatment.

While he received treatment at the hospital, the neighbors found out about his gruesome acts of rape and murder and informed the police. The police followed him to hospital for further management before an interrogation but he died.

“He was pronounced dead on arrival and both remains are still at the hospital mortuary as inquiries continue,” said the Sipi regional police spokesperson Rogers Taitika.

NRM Nominates 115 For Six EALA Positions

A total of 115 candidates have shown interest in flying the flag of Uganda in the East African Legislative Assembly under the ruling NRM party card.

The NRM electoral commission chairperson, Dr Tanga Odoi revealed that these nominees will be vying for the six positions availed for the ruling party.

“This level of interest is a sign the party and its organs are very vibrant. It shows people are interested in what NRM does. To have 115 members showing interest for EALA  is a good sign and record that has never been made,” Dr.Tanga said.

He revealed that most of the candidates showing interest are youths. He said they are the most because the removal of the shs.2million nomination fee encouraged them to join the race.Among the 115 are James Kakooza, Denis Namara, George Odongo, Rose Akol, Mary Mugenyi  and Paul Musamali. They are the current representatives on the NRM ticket but are seeking re-election.

The Central Executive Committee will sit today to get the successful aspirants after the electoral commission of the ruling party sends in the 115 names.

The CEC will then recommend names of successful candidates  for election to the NRM Parliamentary Caucus at a later date.

Uganda has a few slots in the East African parliament. Six of these belong to the ruling NRM party, then Democratic Party, Forum for Democratic Change. The independents each have one.

A term in the EALA consists of up of 5years. And according to their laws, an MP can serve for a maximum of two terms.

Kabaka Has Returned Healthy And Fine – Katikiro Informs Buganda

The Prime Minister of Buganda, Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga has informed Buganda that the Kabaka us healthy. The Kabaka had travelled out of the country to get medication and was not even around during his birthday in April.

However, he is now in the country and according to the Katikiro he is back on his feet fully. He revealed this using different social media platforms.

“Ssabasajja Kabaka returned from abroad, he is healthy and reigning over his Kingdom,” Mayiga revealed.

This trip also helped the Kabaka meet with several Buganda development partners in various European states including the Netherlands. The Kabaka flew out of the country via Dutch national airliner, KLM, to Germany for medical check up.

Unlike recent years, this time the Kabaka’s birthday run didn’t happen because he was not in the country. However, the Katikiro had promised that his birthday would be celebrated when he came back.

However, they haven’t talked about it and there no preparations for it, at least none that we know of.

The people of Buganda were happy to receive this news and all they asked for is for the birthday run to happen.

The King of Buganda is one of the most loved Kings in the country and it is evident by the way the Baganda always receive any good news around him.

Born Again Preachers Warn Kampala RCC Hudu Hussein To Stop Meddling In Their Affairs

Born again Christians have warned the Kampala Resident City Commissioner RCC, Hudu Hussein that he can’t stop them from doing what they were born to do.

News made round yesterday after Hudu Hussein said he has given street preachers only 39 days to leave the streets.

Apparently, the street preachers are causing havoc and a lot disorganization in the city. This didn’t impress the born Again Christians in any way.

According to Hudu, this is going to bring about order in the city. However, the Christians have decided not to be moved by this statement.

They have decided to organize more street preaching sessions instead. They say they don’t in any way see how preaching disorganizes the city. Some people said there are more pressing issues in the country but as usual Government chooses the least pressing.

Meanwhile, there are people who confessed saying this is what they have been waiting for.

“I side with him. Assuming all denominations came out on the streets preaching, how would the roads be? There are many churches existing where you and your people can meet and preach to yourselves. Let roads serve their purpose as roads!” a one Francis said.

“Kampala streets can finally get some sense of being organized. Street preachers are causing noise pollution and unnecessary drama! Some of them had become some sort of stand-up comedians. We have churches that are open 24/7 let them preach from there.” a one Beatrice said.

It should be remembered that Hudu is behind the clearing off of street vendors from Kampala. However, we don’t know how far he will go with this.

The Devil Is In Charge Of This Country, Winnie Kizza And Other Activists Claim

 Winnie Kizza and other activists have said the devil is in charge of this country. She made these remarks during a town hall virtual meeting on the Covid-19 global response. It was under the topic: “What are the benefits and implications.” According to the activists, the government has to protect the inherent rights of the citizens. Among these also includes, freedom of worship which apparently is not free anymore.

“Covid-19 restrictions on places of worship is a continuation of the bizarre failed attempts to control worship in Uganda. Uganda in 2018, and 2019 has a history of religious bills which are discriminatory and overreaching. Resist. I think the devil is in action here. We need to take a stand to unconditionally open places of worship. They closed churches but some areas are more congested/worse than churches. The devil has taken over the state,” she said.

Winnie Kizza also says that lockdown seemed like the best solution in the beginning. Due to this, she participated in sensitizing Ugandans to adhere to the lockdown regulations. However, much as Ugandans thought politicians were doing their job, Winnie says the issue was more politicized for the benefit of a few.

“Covid-19 was used to clamp down on democracy and make the democracy lose meaning. And up to now, the population has given up on government. They don’t think they are doing whatever they are doing in good faith.”

Meanwhile, they centered this conversation on the freedom of worship because Covid has affected it.
